Resources

Or: Where to find some context for the things you read here.

Listed below are links to citations and descriptions of the resources used while researching this project. Follow the link associated with each resource to find more information about the resource and some commentary on the content and value of the resources.

In an effort to make proper citation from within the Warp engine (a challenge) the references are themselves listed as word definition pairs within Warp and given a code that allows them to be linked from other definitions. The code is generally a combination of the author's name and part of the title. In cases where this is not available[1] something unique is used. Following the link will decode the meaning.

Because the Warp engine allows the definition to be modified you cannot be assured of the accuracy of any of the citation definitions that are newer than the oldest available[2]. In some cases, though, the oldest definition may contain errors that are corrected in later definitions[3].

This organization of resources does not work well. Putting the citations in warp allows easy reference from other text but it makes the notion of annotated bibliography rather difficult unless text were replicated here from the warp definitions. If we had a good way to do transclusion in the world wide web then the actual definitions could be included without copying them. If you wish to use this page as an anottated bibliography or resource reference follow the links below (opening the link in a new window may be helpful).

Notes:

  1. Some of the resources are web sites that do not provide all the necessary information
  2. Of course there isn't any good way you can actually trust the oldest definitions either.
  3. Hypertext is hard, let's go shopping.
